The seawater evaporates
The water that evaporates from the sea turns into raindrops in the clouds over the cold, Norwegian mountains
and falls like rain
the temperature up in the clouds causes the steam to condense and turn into rain and snow
The rain gathers
The rain turns into streams and rivers, ponds and lakes, which we collect in magazines in the mountains of Norway
The dam
The dams allow us to collect the rainwater and make sure that there is always enough water to produce electricity
High drop height
The water is released at high speed through long tunnels which often lie inside the mountains
Turbines
The water turbine wheel rotates and drives generators
Generators
Generators which produce electricity
High voltage
Electricity is distributed through a high voltage network
Conversion to
low voltage
The electricity is converted to low voltage to be used in the power grid
Conversion to
low voltage
The electricity can then be delivered to your home or business
